Jacob Hannon is valedictorian, Hunter Smith is salutatorian at NPHS

New Prairie High School has announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the 2020-21 school year:
Hunter Smith – salutatorian
Hunter’s parents are Brian and Jill Smith. He has a younger sister, Cameron Smith. After graduation, he plans to attend Butler University to study accounting and then attend law school.  He was a member of the boys basketball team for four years and captain his senior year. He also participated on the track and field team for four years and as a captain for three years. He has been involved in Key Club as vice president, Student Senate as vice president, and National Honor Society as the treasurer. GPA: 4.45.

Jacob Hannon

Jacob is the son of Michael and Laura Hannon, and has two younger siblings, Emma and Eli. While attending New Prairie, he played for the tennis team, lettering 3 out of 4 years and playing in the 3rd varsity singles spot to help the team to the 2020 sectional championship title. He also played infield for the high school baseball team for 4 years and for the Triple Crown Threat over the summer seasons. Jacob was heavily involved on the 2197 Las Pumas Robotics team, being the mechanical lead for the last two years, and was inducted into the National Honor Society his junior year. Outside of school he is a part of his church’s tech team and enjoys spending time outdoors backpacking and fishing. After graduation, Jacob plans to study either aerospace or aeronautical engineering, in hopes of someday being able to go into space. GPA: 4.47.
