Learn how to use your Cricut Feb. 27

Do you have a Cricut, the popular machine used to creatively cut paper, leather, fabric and more? The La Porte Park and Recreation Department will host two classes, led by Kristi Chadderdon, on Feb. 27 to teach you how to use it.

Classes are limited in size, so pre-register now by calling the Park Office (219-326-9600) weekdays between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Each class has a fee of $35. Participants should bring their Cricut machine, cords, standard grip cutting mats and device/laptop they use.

Before attending classes, please create your own free Design Space account at  cricut.com. Bring your login information with you to class.

Both Cricut 101 and 102 will take place Feb. 27.

Cricut 101 teaches the basics, including how to operate the machine and software, using the mat and blade, and cutting with the machine. This is a 2-hour absolute beginner class. You will walk away feeling confident in using the machine and will make a cute shamrock  pinwheel to display on St. Patrick’s Day. All supplies and reference handouts are included in the  fee. Cricut 101 will be held from 10 a.m.-noon in the Ceramics Room of the Civic Auditorium. Please enter using the back outside stairs at the Plain and Woodward streets intersection.

At Cricut 102, participants will use their own machine to expand their knowledge and abilities. They’ll learn how to upload an image from outside of Design Space and clean it  up, how to weld cursive fonts, and how to cut and apply vinyl to wood. This class is perfect for anyone with a basic knowledge of Design Space. All supplies and reference handouts are included in the fee. Cricut 102 will be held from 2-4 p.m. in the Ceramics Room of the Civic Auditorium. Please enter using  the back outside stairs at the Plain and Woodward Streets intersection.
