St. Paul’s Episcopal Church holds annual meeting


The annual meeting of  St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, La Porte, was held Jan. 24, 2021, in the church immediately after the service. Twenty-four members were present, all masked and socially distanced, with four members attending by Zoom.
The meeting started with an opening prayer by the Rev. Canon Michelle Walker, priest-in-charge. A quorum was declared by Mtr. Michelle.
During her report from the pulpit, Mtr. Michelle thanked outgoing vestry members Tom Konieczny, Sue Cummings and Margie Bender, Senior Warden Sandra Provan and Junior Warden Tom Robinson for their service.
A copy of the minutes was in the Annual Meeting Report handed out to all present and distributed electronically prior to the meeting. A motion to approve the minutes passed.
The nominating committee of Mtr. Michelle, Sandra Provan and Sue Cummings proposed an incoming slate of Jean Burns for Senior Warden, Tom Konieczny for Junior Warden and Linda Baker for a term on the vestry. Vestry member nominated from the floor was David Sirugo. The slate was accepted by acclamation.
Included in the Annual Meeting Report, Treasurer Cummings noted that $10,279.60 in grants was received 2020. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report passed. The 2021 budget was also accepted.
Provan thanked everyone for being faithful members. Bette Floyd thanked Mtr. Michelle for coming on board and John Coalter thanked everyone for good stewardship, both in terms of giving and in use of the money. Mtr. Michelle is looking forward to 2021 and is wondering what God has in store for St. Paul’s. She led everyone in the Lord’s Prayer.
