La Porte County Sheriff’s Office press release

On Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at about 11:30 a.m., multiple detectives from the La Porte County Drug Taskforce, LaPorte County Fugitive Apprehension Street Team and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives gathered at the 500 block of Van Spanje Avenue in an attempt to locate and arrest 28-year-old Peoria, Ill., resident Alsiah Spikes, who has the following active federal and state arrest warrants:

  • Federal felony arrest warrant for felon in possession of a firearm
  • Felony probation violation arrest warrant through the State of Illinois
  • Felony aggravated battery arrest warrant through the Lansing, Ill., Police Department

Detectives confirmed during their investigation that Spikes was inside a residence in the Van  Spanje Avenue block, so a search warrant was obtained through LaPorte County Superior Court 1 to enter and arrest him.

Detectives saw Spikes leave the house through a window as they entered. He was quickly apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Detectives collected evidence in the house after obtaining a search warrant.

Spikes was also arrested on local charges of Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm (Level 4 Felony)  and Resisting Law Enforcement (A Misdemeanor). He was being held in La Porte County Jail on a $20,005 cash-only bond.
