4 fire crews fight house blaze in frigid temps

The temperature was around zero as firefighters slogged through the deep snow to battle a house fire in the 600 west block of Forrester Road Saturday night, Feb. 13. The residents were able to get out and no one was hurt. Coolspring Township was assisted by the Center and Scipio township and Westville departments, said Center Chief Kevin Jerndt.

The fire was called in at about 7 p.m. and firefighters were there until abour 10:30 p.m. Wind was also a factor, Jerndt said, and fire hoses had to be strung for quite a distance through the snow.

So so sorry for this family. Thank the Lord they made it out safe. And thanks you for our firefighters who braved the bitter cold!
