La Porte County remains in Yellow status as number of new cases slows

 

The positivity rate for new COVID-19 cases in La Porte County was at 5.6 percent as of Feb. 14, down from 6.85 percent as of Feb. 8, according to data from the Indiana Department of Health.

The county’s total number of positive cases was 9,591 as of Feb. 14, 81 more than the Feb. 8 total. The number of La Porte County deaths stood at 193 over the weekend as compared to 189 Feb. 8.

La Porte County remains in Orange status for the third week after being upgraded from Red.

Anyone 65 and over, as well as healthcare workers and first responders, are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Appointment slots open up in coordination with how many vaccines are available locally any given week.
