LCSO musician highlight: Meg Rodgers

 

Meg Rodgers began playing the harp at the age of 14 after taking several years of piano and flute lessons. She actually studied all of those instruments during her college years.

Meg has been a member of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra since 2000 and also serves as a musician liaison to the LCSO Board. She is a graduawww.lcso.nette of DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in Harp Performance and she has a master of music performance degree from Northwestern University.

In addition to her duties with the LCSO, she is currently the Principal Harp for the South Shore Orchestra and Assistant Principal with the Rockford, Ill., Orchestra. Meg also has performed with the Northwest Indiana, Southwest Michigan and South Bend orchestras as well as the Holland and Kalamazoo, Michigan, orchestras.

Meg is also a freelance harpist, playing approximately 50 weddings a year as well as other events. She is the adjunct harp instructor at Lake Michigan College and Andrews University, and Artist in Residence at St. Joseph Public Schools in Michigan.
