UPDATES: Those 60 and older may now receive vaccine; mobile site to offer it Feb. 25-27


The Indiana Department of Health has expanded the age group to 60 of those now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. As of Feb. 23, all Hoosiers age 60 and up, as well as healthcare workers and first responders, may receive the free vaccination.
Also, the Indiana Department of Health announced Feb. 23 that it will hold a temporary COVID-19 mobile vaccine clinic from Feb. 25 through Feb. 27 at the Ivy Tech parking lot, 3714 Franklin St., Michigan City. Times will be 8 a.m.-8 p.m. This is by appointment only; register at www.ourshot.in.gov.
Here are the other La Porte County sites where the vaccine is available, along with how to make an appointment.

— Healthlinc, Inc., 400 Teegarden St., La Porte (in Founders Square off State Street) and  710 Franklin St., Suite 200, Michigan City.  To schedule an appointment, call 219-326-0043 for the La Porte clinic or 219-872-6200 for the Michigan City clinic, or visit Appointment Request Form (phreesia.net) If you’re not yet eligible to receive a vaccination, you can still register now and HealthLinc will contact you when you are eligible.

— Kroger Pharmacy, 55 Pine Lake Ave., La Porte. Call 866-211-5320 to schedule an appointment. (Do not call 211 for Kroger appointments.)

— Through the Indiana State Department of Health website for Franciscan Health Michigan City, La Porte County Health Department (La Porte fairgrounds), Michigan City Meijer Pharmacy, 5150 Franklin St., or Michigan City Walmart, 5780 Franklin St. To register for an appointment at any of these locations, visit COVID-19 Vaccine Map Website (arcgis.com) and choose La Porte County, then choose a location to register.

    there is a 15 min.rest period after your shot.I was in and out in less than 1/2 hour. get one.

    Yes, Lawman, we are. I just had my first shot yesterday at Franciscan Health in Michigan City and was very impressed by the way they’re running this.

    I’ve had my two vaccine shots at the fair grounds. Excellent professional people manning the process there. (No after effects, either!)
