1921

The State Senate adopts an amendment to a bill providing that women may work not longer than 56 hours a week, ignoring pleas for a limit of 50 hours by the Indiana League of Woman Voters.

1971

The La Porte Salvation Army lauds its volunteers, hopefully the last such event to be held in the old Citadel at 505 Fifth Street.

1996

Voters favor President Clinton over Sen. Bob Dole 52 percent to 39 percent in a Time magazine-CNN poll.

2011

Peyton Riehle, a Boston Middle School sixth grader, is named the new La Porte County spelling champion.
