Bryan Holden, 1970-2021

 

Bryan James Holden, 50, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at VNA Hospice Center.

He was born Aug. 13, 1970, in Gary, Ind., to Paul Edward Holden and Jewell Lee (Miller) Holden Matthews.

Bryan was co-owner, along with his spouse, Wayne, of JJ’s Pizza Shack in La Porte, Ind. He was a funny, kind-hearted friend who loved to joke around. His smile was bigger than life. Bryan was known to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a knack of relating to all he met. Bryan’s great sense of humor and joyous spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

On May 11, 2015, in Crown Point, Ind., he married Wayne Necessary, who survives.

Also surviving Bryan are his parents, Jewell and Michael Matthews; 2 brothers, Paul (Donna) Allen Holden and Harold (Laurie) Leon Holden; 7 nephews, John (Clarissa) Paul Holden, Taylor Allen Holden, Anthony Edward Holden, Cody Michael Holden, Alex Edward Holden, Ryan Austin Holden, and Eric Steven Holden;  1 great-niece, Avery Lee Holden; 2 great-nephews, Liam  Holden and Wyatt Austin Holden; 9 beloved fur babies, Elle, Acasah, Taya, Baby, Lizzy, Della, Gauto, Cyrus, and Kia; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Edward Holden, who passed in May 1993.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service will take place at a later date.

To honor Bryan’s life and in keeping with his generous heart, memorial contributions may be directed to Hannah’s Hope, 6300 Founders Square, Portage, Ind. 46368. Hannah’s Hope is a nonprofit organization that helps to provide developmental equipment to kids with special needs.

    Bryan always greeted us with a smile, and treated us well. He was very accomodating for our get-togethers, and was very generous in his donations to the LPHS Softball program. JJ’s won’t be the same without him, and he will be missed! RIP!

    Carl and I are so sad to hear this news. Bryan was such a kind and friendly person. His death is just heartbreaking.
