Lubeznik Center’s Arts Festival returns Aug. 21-22

The 2021 Lubeznik Arts Festival will take place Aug. 21 and 22 in Michigan City. This popular festival held by Lubeznik Center for the Arts is currently in its 39th year and is one of the highlights of summer in northwest Indiana. It takes place on the center’s grounds at 101 W. 2nd St. to connect festival-goers to the organization’s dynamic programming and exhibitions.

LCA’s summer blockbuster, Bramson/Indiana/Lake, a show of works by Phyllis Bramson, Robert Indiana and Mayumi Lake, will be on display during the festival, plus 85 exhibitors are expected to show their creations.

Laura Cutler will be the juror reviewing exhibitors’ works. Cutler received her BFA from Otis College of Art & Design with a concentration in Ceramic Sculpture and her MFA in Painting & Anatomy from The New York Academy of Art. She has taught painting, drawing and ceramics at numerous colleges and is currently an associate faculty member at Indiana University South Bend. Cutler’s numerous grants and awards include an IAC Individual Artist Grant, the President’s Award at South Shore Arts Salon Show, the Best of Show Award at the Midwest Museum of American Art and the Hoosier Women Artists Award from the lieutenant governor. Cutler has co-owned the Thaddeus C. Gallery in La Porte since 2004.
