Holy Week, Easter services at LP Presbyterian 

This Sunday The Presbyterian Church of La Porte will celebrate Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. Rev. Jane Anabe’s sermon, “Joy Before Sorrow,” is based on  Mark 11:1-11 and is the last in her six-part Lenten series.

Contemporary Worship at 9:30 a.m. and Traditional Worship at 11:30 a.m. will be accessible on Facebook at The Presbyterian Church of La Porte and via Zoom. The 11:30 a.m. service is also heard on 89.1 FM in the church’s parking lot, 307 Kingsbury Ave. There will be no in-person worship.

Carillonneur John Gouwens will perform a carillon concert after the parking lot service.     

Holy Week services

Services will be offered online for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday:

Palm Sunday: Contemporary Worship at 9:30 a.m. and Traditional Worship at 11:30 a.m. on Facebook and Zoom; Traditional Worship also in the parking lot with 89.1 FM.

Maundy Thursday: 7 p.m. Traditional worship on Zoom and Facebook and will include communion. 

Good Friday: 7 p.m. Taize-style worship on Zoom and Facebook.

Easter Sunday, April 4: Worship times change back to 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. as in-person worship begins in the sanctuary. It will also be available on Facebook. As long as services are in person, Zoom will not be offered. 

On Easter Sunday there will not be congregational singing, but John and Rachel Osborn will provide music during the prelude and postlude. The Fellowship/Hospitality Team will have treats available “to go,” to be enjoyed outside only. 

After Easter Sunday: in-person worship will stay at 9 and 11 a.m. and will remain indoors until the weather allows for outside worship. Carillon concerts will continue.
