New Prairie High School graduate Sydney Moody is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2021 legislative session.

Moody, a Rolling Prairie resident, is the daughter of Kristopher and Stacey Moody. She is double majoring in political science and law and society at Purdue University.

“I’m enjoying learning more about the legislative process while seeing it in action,” Moody said. “Through my experience, I am gaining a deeper understanding of our state government and a greater appreciation of being an Indiana resident.”

As a legislative intern, Moody corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.

“The Statehouse is a very exciting learning atmosphere for students like Sydney who get to experience something new on a daily basis,” Pressel said. “The internship provides a personal interaction with state leaders and other public servants, and is a great foundation for building a career.”

Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
