Great Shots: a glow of hope

Easter Sunday began with a warm and reassuring glow at the historic Carmel Chapel, located just west of Garwood’s farm store on CR-50S. Bethany Lutheran Church held its annual sunrise service there, with about three dozen parishioners gathering as the sun crept over the horizon. Carmel Chapel was built in 1872. A small cemetery is located behind the chapel.

Amber lights glow through the chapel’s windows as the morning sky turns blue and the moon shines bright white in the southern sky.

Bethany Lutheran Pastor Dennis Meyer leads the congregation in a hymn to start the service.

The light over the chapel’s front door gently competes with the first rays of light from the sun.

Carmel Chapel is one of my favorite spots in La Porte County, even though it is a cemetery. Beautiful country and also resting place for large number of family members.
