Cougars softball team falls to Hanover, 16-9 

While New Prairie bowed to Hanover Saturday, Cougar Makayla Willoughby rocked a center field solo home run in the 2nd and scored 2 runs. Avery Mougin had 3 singles, 1 run scored and 1 RBI. Emma Lewis made a great catch in left field. Karli Gayton locking down center field and Kaitlin Gay had a lazer drilled to her in right field but made the easy snag.

The Cougars’ next game is is scheduled for April 9 at Valparaiso.

Hanover defeats New Prairie JV, 9-8, in softball

While Hanover edged the Cougars JV squad, Ella Burford had 2 singles and 3 runs scored for New Prairie. Avery Mougin had a line drive drilled at her but made the catch and forced a double play. Kendra Willoughby chimed in with a beautifully hit double and a single with a run scored. Mya Haws added 2 singles and 1 run scored to assist the Cougars.

Slicers split doubleheader with Logansport

The La Porte Slicers baseball team split a doubleheader against Logansport Saturday. The Slicers were defeated 13-3 in the first game and won the second game 16-9.
LaPorte is now 2-2 on the season.

Slicers softballers defeat Hobart, 5-1

In their Saturday game, the Slicers softball team downed Hobart, 5-1. Nikki Burke and Marcy Bearickx both had two hits. Abbey Vergin, Peyton Harlow, Becca Marxman and Grace Arnett recorded one hit each.

Arnett went yard in the 6th inning to give the Slicers a comfortable lead. Pitcher Regan Hague and catcher Becca Marxman executed a flawless game plan. Hague had seven strikeouts and only one earned run against her.

The Slicers take on the Chesterton Trojans Tuesday.

JV Slicers edge Adams, 9-8

On Friday, the LaPorte Slicers JV baseball squad took its game versus South Bend Adams in dramatic fashion, thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at 8 with LaPorte batting in the bottom of the seventh when Braylyn Schultz singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The Slicers captured the lead in the second inning. Gavin Redlin doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Kai Jones got the win for LaPorte. Jones surrendered three runs on one hit over three innings, striking out five. Grant Olson threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Drew Flores started the game for the Slicers. The righty surrendered two runs on three hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

The Slicers racked up eight hits in the game. Schultz, Ryan Bruemmer and Brock Schultz each had multiple hits for LaPorte.

The Slicers hit one home run on the day; Jones went deep in the first inning.

The JV team will next be in action Tuesday, April 6, at Valparaiso.

Slicer baseball team loses to Hobart, 11-4

In its Friday game versus Hobart, the Slicers had trouble keeping up in an 11-4 loss.
LaPorte put up four runs in the fifth inning. Hayden Lowe, Carson Stalbaum, Cam Worthington and Carter Moses powered the big inning with the RBIs.

Jack McGuire took the loss, allowing eight hits and six runs over three and a third innings, striking out three and walking one.

Worthington, Gavin Zolviniski, Stalbaum, Kade Flores, Colin Bergquist, and Lowe each collected one hit.

Slicers fall to Munster, 13-7, in baseball

On Friday, the Slicers displayed an outstanding hitting performance. Every starter had at least one hit. Regan Hague pitched a phenomenal game. The Slicers fell due to one chaotic inning.
