Lakeview owner’s funeral director license suspended after he denied criminal charges

Pulaski

The funeral director’s license of Casmir Pulaski, owner of Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory in La Porte, has been suspended for a year because he lied on his license renewal application regarding criminal charges, according to the State of Indiana Funeral Board.

According to the minutes of the funeral board’s April 2021 meeting, Pulaski responded “No” to the question on his renewal applications in 2000, 2010 and 2012 that asked if he had been arrested since his last renewal. The document went on to provide information that Pulaski was charged in 2000 in La Porte County Superior Court 3 with intimidation, trespass and false information and was ultimately convicted of trespass in a plea agreement. He was also charged and convicted of public intoxication in 2004, the document states.

More specifically, the citation states that the charges involved Pulaski hunting on private property and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Charges were filed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The funeral board this month suspended Pulaski’s license for one year with no right to petition and fined him $1,000.

WNLP has learned that another funeral director is presently working at Lakeview in Pulaski’s place. Pulaski can still own the business but cannot personally make funeral arrangements, conduct funerals or perform embalming without a license, according to Indiana law.

Does wonders for the business. Glad to know he has been such a liar and finally had his license suspended! We will definitely use Cutlers for anyone in our family that passes away

We all make mistakes in our life. Not all of our mistakes define us. Even when a person has made an error in judgement & pays for that error, it’s not easy for them to continue on because of mindsets like John’s. John has a right to not use this mans business for his own reasons. But there is no need to beat him down any further.

Seems like people like to throw stones, but should be using windex instead.

This is truly a disturbing and heart wrenching story of the misuse of the trust and loyalty that our community has held for him in their time of loss and grief. I personally feel that he should never be allowed to practice again.

Anita, yes, everyone makes mistakes. However , IF you read the article, he lied on three different applications. Different years… not a mistake but intentional deception.

The world is full of deception right now…IF you’re paying attention. How many errors in judgement does it take to see someone’s true self !

He needs to be totally banned. Someone this corrupt should never be allowed to touch a families loved one.
Pure deception and that’s only the things we are aware of.
He’s in a position to be a pillar of our community and someone to be trusted like all the other upstanding funeral directors and owners in our town. Disgraceful!

We just attended a Lakeview funeral last month & Cas did a great job. The whole family was very pleased. Why is this just now being brought to light if the last renewal was in 2012? I would assume you would’ve caught this in 2012 & not almost a whole decade later. I’m not saying he’s not wrong for what he did, but it seems as if someone is out to get him. It also seems like someone was out to get him if all he was cited for was hunting on private property & weed. I think the board must be bored.

Lake view funeral home has been voted Number1 funeral home in the last several years! We have had family members and our fur babies cared for by them and plan on if the need ever arises again, they treated our furbabies the same as our family members! The compassion they show is amazing, we all are sinners and that’s why we all attend church, cast no stones till you can prove you are perfect! May god bless each and every one of us 🙏

I also hold an Indiana License to conduct my business. You don’t get to lie on the renewal form or the application. Do you want your doctors, nurses, insurance agents, Realtors or anyone else representing you to lie on their forms? Doing it once, maybe it was a mistake. This guy has done it over and over again. If he told the truth, he probably wouldn’t have been suspended. We aren’t all perfect. The state probably would have been fine with the truth!

Nobody seems to be concerned about the fundamental problem here.

Someone starts a business, and the “Government” creates red-tape making it harder for anyone to run a business. So much for FREEDOM.

Lakeview is a nice place, so are the others. In a good ol’ American economy, government would buy-out, and let them compete regardless.

You are so far away from being in reality if you had a funeral from your pet at a funeral home

Just what is the nature with some people? There is that group who never has a hard time finding only the faults in a person and bad mouthing them but never looks for or mentions the good the person has in them. It’s that group of people that need to read the big book and pay close attention to John 8:7. Jesus said “If anyone of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone” Wow! after reading some of these post, I never knew there was so many sinless people. In all, I look at Cas as a pillar of the community…

Several years ago our beloved black lab passed away unexpectedly. We were absolutely heartbroken. We heard about Lakeview Funeral home regarding cremation of our baby girl. It was the worst day of our lives but Cas and his wife were so kind and helpful to us. It was a hot September day and Cas started his own vehicle to get the air conditioner on so that he could transport our black lab to be cremated. He lovingly took her from my husbands arms and placed her in the back of his vehicle. We will be forever grateful to him and his wife.

At the time this was the talk of the town and well reported on all of the local news media outlets. These are merely frivolous misdemeanor charges, let alone possession of a small amount of marijuana which isn’t even a crime anymore in the states that border Indiana.
I am completely appalled by the way the La Porte chapter of PPC (Perfect People Club) has come out to tarnish Mr Pulaski’s reputation. These are not serious felony charges, they are minor misdemeanors yet they want to portray him as this horrible man. SMH

I agree with gogeous jim, Get off your high horses First Stone Casters of La Porte! Sounds a little like the competition trying to reduce the players in the funeral business in LaPorte. I will be sure to use his services when we are in need of them. I LIKE an underdog!

I read the Herald Dispatch today and learned that he was only issued a summons. Since when did a summons become an arrest?

My 11 week old daughter passed away unexpectedly last August and we would not have made it without Cas, Deena and their entire staff. They were incredibly caring, kind and generous. My husband and I were local pastors and worked with many funeral homes/directors and LakeView & the Pulaskis are by far, the best.
