From La Porte Park and Recreation Department Superintendent Mark Schreiber: “Thanks to recent philanthropic efforts from our community, we are extremely thrilled to have a 1949 painting of Stone Lake on permanent display in the Ken Moryl Conference Room at the park office. The painting was donated to the park department by Rev. Dennis Meyer, who discovered the painting upon moving into his new home across Lakeshore Drive from Stone Lake.
“With over seven decades of wear, the painting needed restoration before being framed and displayed. Fortunately, Questers Will Plum Grove, Chapter 1415, took it on as a community project and enlisted Thaddeus Cutler and his team from Thaddeus C. Gallery to do the restoration. The results are amazing, and we now have a beautiful depiction of our lakes for future generations to enjoy. Thank you to everyone involved with giving new life to this work of art.”
