The public is invited to the La Porte County Genealogical Society’s meeting this Tuesday to learn about an early civil-rights leader from Michigan City.

At the 6 p.m. gathering in Meeting Room B of the La Porte County Public Library, Susan Webster will present the program, “An African-American Woman Who Accomplished So Much.” It’s the story of Naomi Anderson (1843-1899), born to free black parents in Michigan City who was an early suffragette, temperance leader and civil-rights activist.
All are welcome.
