Spots still open in parks’ June 8 Scrabble art class for kids

What words can you create that are fun and may mean a lot to someone special? In this La Porte Park and Recreation Father’s Day Children’s Class, kids will create their own Scrabble tile artwork.

Make a gift for your dad, grandpa, or anyone special in your life, or keep it for yourself! The class will be led by Parties on the Gogh owner Kristy Chadderdon.

The class will be held Tuesday, June 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the Ceramics Room at the La Porte Civic Auditorium,  1001 Ridge St. Please enter the door at the corner of Plain and Woodward streets. Face coverings and  social distancing are required.

Class size will be limited, so pre-register now by calling the park office at 219-326-9600 or stop in at 250 Pine Lake Ave. The fee is $17 and includes everything you need to create your artwork.

Need financial assistance? If you qualify, the park department offers need-based scholarships for youth programs. For more  information, contact Recreation Director Pam Carroll at
