Sermon asks a question at LP Presbyterian

Rev. Jane Anabe’s sermon Sunday is “Setting Out Again,” based on 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13. In it, David is anointed king over Israel, a transition from Saul as king that was disappointing for some. Present-day transitions can also be difficult; Anabe explores what wisdom may be gleaned from the text.

Contemporary Worship at 9 a.m. and Traditional Worship at 11 a.m. will be on Facebook at The Presbyterian Church of La Porte and in cars or in person at the church parking lot, 307 Kingsbury, with both services broadcast on radio station 89.1 FM for those who wish to remain in their cars.

The La Porte COVID-19 threat level is at yellow, so there will be in-person outdoors, with masks and 6-foot distancing (16 feet if singing). If the weather is inclement, worship leaders may move indoors and worshipers may choose to stay in their cars. Groups are limited to 20 people or fewer, maintaining 6-foot distancing and wearing masks at all times.

A carillon concert will follow at noon.
