Arthur Schuck II, 1933-2021

 

Arthur Frederick Schuck, II, 88, of Rolling Prairie, Ind., passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Aperion Care Arbors, Michigan City, Ind.

He was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Elmhurst, Ill., to Arthur Frederick and Cleopha (Bessmer) Schuck.

Arthur lived in Glen Ellyn, Ill., before moving to Rolling Prairie in 1941, where he resided until his passing. In 1955, he graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture economy. Arthur proudly served in the U.S. Navy. In 1957, he and his wife were instrumental in developing Sun Acre Fruit Farm, a local orchard that remained in business for over 60 years. Art was an avid mushroom hunter. His other interests included hunting, fishing, trap shooting, coin collecting, playing euchre, and feeding the birds, turkeys, cats and deer that visited his yard.

Art was a 50-plus-year member of New Carlisle Masonic Lodge 204, South Bend Consistory, and a member of Orak Shrine.  He was also a member of Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church for several years.

On Oct. 19, 1957, he married the love of his life, Frances Rosemary Jeschke, who preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 2014.

His parents also preceded him in death.

Surviving are his children, Art F. (Karyn) Schuck III of Rolling Prairie and Carol (Mark) Schuck Dillon of Randleman, N.C.; grandchildren, Haley and August Schuck of Rolling Prairie; sister, Dorothy (Joe) Jones; niece, Patty Jones, and nephew, Bill Jones.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte, with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Rolling Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 21, and from 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday.

      Art and Family, I’m so sorry for Passing of Ur Dad .He was a great guy ! He had a lot of great memories and stories. I’m going to miss him . May He Rest In Peace Now . Also May God be with You all in ur time of Need and there after. Friends always Deb Weisenberger

    My husband worked one summer for Art and Francis and I don’t know how many of the other Bealors worked there also, but they were really nice people and helped anyone who needed help, their generation and people like them will be missed.
