Changes in worship at LP Presbyterian

This Sunday there will be one combined service at 10 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church of La Porte. Rev. Jane Anabe’s sermon, “Don’t Get Too Comfortable!” is based on Mark 6:1-13, wherein Jesus’ preaching in his hometown is rejected. Then he sends his disciples out to begin his ministry. Jesus’ actions aren’t affected by the rejection. Anabe asks about people’s reactions in the present day’s circumstances.

The Sacrament of Communion will be celebrated and the carillon concert will be from 11 to 11:15.

Effective this Sunday:

  • Worship will be indoors every week, regardless of COVID threat color, and will continue to be offered on Facebook Live and on 89.1 FM in the parking lot, 307 Kingsbury Ave.
  • Masks are to be worn while in the building, including at all times during worship.
  • For now, music will continue to be pre-recorded and there will be no congregational singing.
  • In the sanctuary, pews are marked with colored tape; those attending Cross Connection should sit in a red pew and Traditional Worshippers should sit in a blue pew. People from different households may sit together at their discretion; however, it is recommended to do so only if all are fully vaccinated.
  • Coffee and refreshments will be served outdoors after worship, weather permitting.
  • There is no limit on the number of people allowed in the building, as long as sufficient distance is maintained in the space being used.

Cross Connection is a more contemporary worship service; it is usually at 9:00am. The service itself tends to be more relaxed and open than the Traditional Service, but please keep in mind that I am expressing the way I react to the different services.
