La Porte County Symphony Board member highlight: Nolah Nasser Gertner

Nolah Nasser Gertner

Nolah Nasser Gertner is in her third year on the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra Board, having served as vice president for the last two. Nolah’s life has been filled with music from the start. Raised in a musical family, she has served as church pianist for several congregations and accompanist for instrumental/vocal performers through the years.

After relocating to Michigan City from the Detroit area, she and her first husband, Joe, opened and operated two retail stores focusing on video and audio experiences, Sights and Sounds and Audio Connection. Their third store, Nasser and Sons, featured a variety of keyboards, including Steinway, an instrument for which they undertook the “grand” experience of adding a music room to their home to house a Steinway Concert Grand.

Nolah and her second husband, Michael, regularly traveled to Mackinac Island to enjoy the Jazz Fest, where she met many talented, well-known performers. Nolah feels fortunate to live in a community of talented professionals where the arts and music are abundant and has participated in it from all sides, from performing with Dunes Summer Theatre and Footlight Players to serving on the LCSO board and many experiences in between. She thoroughly enjoys working with her fellow board members and is especially excited about the orchestra building programs that both educate and entertain our communities.
