Kickball tournament for all ages is Sept. 12

Remember kickball? With those red, rubber balls that traveled a mile when you kicked them? People of ALL AGES can relive (or experience for the first time) the fun at a Kickball Tournament Sunday, Sept. 12, at Rolling Prairie Elementary School.

The tournament begins with check-in at 8:30 a.m., followed by games starting at 9 a.m., at the ballfields outside the school located on Michigan Street in Rolling Prairie.

The event, a fundraiser for the Kankakee Township Hustlin’ Hoosiers 4-H club, welcomes teams of 8 to 10 coed players.

Cost per competitive team is $50; cost per family fun league team is $30. Single-elimination format.

Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st- and 2nd-place competitive teams if at least 10 teams compete.
Food and drinks will be available on site, provided by Home Run Hot Dogs. Raffle prizes will also be awarded.

Rosters and fees are due to Danielle Ekovich by Sept. 5; contact her at 219-363-9325 or via the event’s Facebook page at:

I went to St. Joes and kickball was a popular gym class sport on that big playground – we used volleyballs. There were some guys who not only kicked balls over the left field fence, but put some balls into the huge oak tree in left center. Some were good enough to bounce them off the church roof! Great memories!
