LPHS girls golfers defeat Cougars

The Slicers were able to capture a victory, 179-193, Thursday at Beechwood against New Prairie.

Scoring for La Porte were Molly Menne with 43, Gabby Hull, 44, Jayme Noll, 45, and 47s carded by both Kamryn Kubik and Ella Schable.

Medalist honors for the match went to New Prairie’s Jaiden Winters, who shot a 5-over-par 41.

The JV team was also able to secure a victory, 196-254. Scoring for the Slicers were Lauren Miskowicz, 45, Adley Schable, personal-best 49, Brooklyn Herod, 50, and 52s shot by each Kennedy Riley and Rosie Korell.

New Prairie falls to Elkhart in volleyball

The New Prairie volleyball team fell in 4 at home to Elkhart, 3-1, Thursday.

Josie Troy led with 12 digs while also earning her 1,000th career dig. Emma Fleck chipped in 9 digs and Haley Robinson added 8.

Ellie Michiaels had 13 kills on the night followed by Robinson with 7.

Fleck dished out 24 assists and Michiaels and Mirabellah Hernandez each had 4 blocks.

The Slicers lost to Crown Point, 3-2, Thursday.

The Cougars lost to John Glenn, 4-1, Thursday.

Slicer girls defeat Merrillville in soccer

The Lady Slicers fought hard in their first win against the Pirates Tuesday.

The first half ended at 0-0. LaPorte turned up the heat, scoring 4 goals in the second half. Goals were made by Lauren West, Amelia Hakes, Sam Deckard and Aiona Cornelio.

Cougar boys blank Clay in soccer

Trenton Platz and the Cougar defenders kept another team scoreless, 5-0, Wednesday vs. South Bend Clay.

On the offensive side, Corbin Jonas and Alex Lenig scored two goals apiece and Trenten Chalik added a goal also.

The Cougars are now 3-1 on the season.
