Katheryn Ardel Ainsworth, 1941-2021

Katheryn Ardel Ainsworth, 79, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 10, 1941, in Porter, Ind., the daughter of Wayne and Loretta Mae (White) McCorkel.

Katheryn lived a very full life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning her own vegetables. She enjoyed snowmobiling and motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons. She loved her horses and was always up early to take care of them regardless of the weather. She was a crafter and designed jewelry. But everyone will agree that the biggest passion in Katheryn’s life was her family. She loved to be with them and they were her number-1 joy in life.

On Feb. 14, 1985, in La Porte, she married Gerald Ainsworth, who preceded her in death.

Katheryn was also preceded in death by her son, Matthew D. Deiotte; brother, David McCorkel; and sister, Barbara McIntrye.

She is survived by her three daughters, Robin (Joe) Fiorito of La Porte, Celine Hicks of La Porte and Theresa (Milo) Bellis of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; son, Thomas (Dawn) Deiotte of Wheatfield, Ind.; two brothers, William McCorkel and Michael (Diane) McCorkel; sister, Betty (Max) Hutka; step-children, Karrie Clark (Scott) of Goshen, Ind., and Corey Ainsworth (Tina) of Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, La Porte. A life celebration will be held at the funeral home at noon Friday with Father Nate Edquist officiating. Private interment will follow at Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills, Ind.

Everyone is invited to attend a gathering at Pinola Grange Hall, 5005 W. Ind. 2, La Porte, right after the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o Haverstock Funeral Home.
