LP County Parks’ Pioneer Days are Saturday and Sunday

La Porte County Parks invites you to come to the 29th Pioneer Days Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25-26, at Creek Ridge County Park. This fun event, full of activities, gives people of all ages an interactive look into the past.

As visitors enter the park, they will encounter a taste of pioneer history and smell the aroma of food from that era cooked the way it was then. You will see historically dressed vendors offering various goods to bring you back to this different era in American history. The various interactive offerings include candle dipping, bracelet or necklace building and ceramics.

Visit with historically clad vendors as they tell stories and showcase their pioneering skills such as quilting, weaving and log cabin building.

Take a horse-drawn wagon ride and take in the scenery of the beautiful 96-acre park, and enjoy many of the delicious foods being offered such as fresh apple butter, kettle corn, ham and beans.

You and your family will enjoy many hands-on activities that are both fun and educational like picking your favorite pattern and make your own tin punch design.

Pioneer Days will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. An admission fee is paid at the gate – $2 for adults and $1 for children or seniors. Kids 4 and under enter for free. The park is located at 7943W CR-400N, Michigan City.
