Arrest made in MC fast-food restaurant robberies



A Michigan City man is now charged with the armed robberies of a Franklin Street Wendy’s on Sept. 25 and a Franklin Street Burger King on Sept. 27.

Vincer Lee Mitchell, 59, was arrested Sept. 28 and subsequently charged by the La Porte County Prosecutor’s Office with 2 counts of robbery, Level 3 felonies.

In both robberies, police said Mitchell held a gun as he entered the restaurants and demanded money. In the Burger King robbery, he was seen leaving in a dark-colored SUV.      

The SUV was spotted by Officer Adam Brinkman on Sept. 28 near the former Marquette Theater. He made a traffic stop and the SUV was searched, revealing evidence from the robberies. Police did not specify the evidence.
