Hanover defeats NP at girls soccer sectional

The Lady Cougars ended their season Tuesday with a first-round sectional loss to Hanover Central, 10-1.

The Cougars held a brief 1-0 lead when Taylor Nelson was able to take the ball down the right side of the Wildcat defense and put it into the far side of the net.

But it was all Hanover Central after that. The Cougars made a few defensive mistakes and the Wildcats were able to net 8 goal in the first half. The Cougars played much stronger in the second half but the Wildcats were able to score 2 more goals to seal the victory.

The Cougar coaching staff thanks Taylor Nelson, Lilee Koblinski and Maleah Matthys for their dedication to the team. These seniors have played high school soccer for 4 years and have seen the team go from a club sport to a school sport and grow from a small handful of girls to the team it is today. Coaches also thank Emma Lewis, who joined the team for one season and gave it some strong games in goal. “We will miss all our seniors and we wish them the best in everything they may pursue.”
