Arts in the Park’s Fall Fox Fest fundraiser is Oct. 16

Arts in the Park’s Fall Fox Fest promises fun for the whole family Saturday, Oct. 16. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., this new fundraising event has something for everyone amid the autumn foliage of Fox Memorial Park.

La Porte’s glorious transition to fall will only accentuate the many crafts and activities in store for those who attend. Improv workshops, craft vendors, health & fitness organizations, art exhibits, food trucks & concessions, pumpkin painting, arts & crafts, live music, and more will delight and entice any autumn lover.

Second City trained facilitator Gregg Fraley will lead two improv workshops – Youth (ages 10 – 18): 10 a.m.– 12:30 p.m.; adults: 1:30 p.m.–4 p.m. In this introduction to the fine art of improv, participants will learn the basics of comedic and dramatic improvisation, how to listen and respond authentically, team building and collaboration, and how improv applies to everyday life, and have a ton of laughs along the way!

The improv workshops won’t be the only events taking center stage.  The Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater will host weaving demonstrations by Christine Predd, live and lively portraiture from local caricature artist Dave Russell, and an exquisite array of art exhibits by talented local artists including Alexandra N Design, Amanda Crane and more.

Craft vendors will share their wares along the Fox Park hillside while health and fitness organizations educate and celebrate the La Porte community. Featured vendors include Salt of the Earth, Loving Leaves, Panos Farms, Hot Spot Café, Region Press, Tipton’s Trinkets and Treasures, Pink Zebra, Healthy Communities of La Porte County, Beet n’ Rhythm, the Boys & Girls Clubs, and Beacon Health Systems, just to name a few.

Solo instrumental musicians, including hammer dulcimer player Tom Rothbauer, guitarist Angelo Cicco, and accordion player Steve Kowalczyk, will add to the ambience of festivities as children enjoy complimentary outdoor games, sidewalk chalk and face painting.

Food truck Tacos My Fren’ and concessions will be available. A silent auction including craft vendor items, tickets to community events and other surprises will add some color to your fall season.

All proceeds will support Arts in the Park’s 2022 Summer Concert Series.
