The Cougars pulled off an upset Saturday, advancing to the Chesterton Regional by placing 5th over the Wheeler Bearcats.

Four Cougars set home-course personal records, one of which was also a new school record! That triumph was turned in by Lillian Zelasko, who ran in 18:32.7, breaking the previous record of 18:43 set by Rachel Thompson in 2013. Lilly took the lead and held on for the vast majority of the race, but Valpo’s Kaylie Politza was able to put her half-miler speed to use and outkicked Zelasko at the end.
